The Government has announced it is seeking to introduce new post study work options for International Students.
So far the UK Government have only announced the new plans, but no new legislation has been created and no new visa routes created – we have a limited amount of information at this time.
In a statement on the 10th September, the Department for Education clarified: “the new immigration route would be available to international students who have successfully completed a course in any subject at undergraduate level or higher at a higher education provider with a track record of compliance, and have tier 4 [visa] at the point the route is introduced” and that we should expect further updates later in the Year.
The UK Government has also confirmed that the new Graduate route will launch for the 2020/21 intake of students to university. After the two years, they will be able to switch onto the skilled work visa if they find a job which meets the skill requirement of the route. Further details will be announced in due course.
We will keep all students up to date with any developments with news items on our Unilife Pages, but it is unlikely any new schemes will be in place before 2020.
