International Welcome Programme – Team Leaders Required

The International Welcome Programme is run by the Immigration and International Student Advice Team in order to provide new international and EU students with the opportunity to arrive before the main enrolment period and to settle in to University life, meet other students and members of staff and make new friends.

Building on the success of the programme since 2003, we will require approximately 5 Team leaders to assist with welcoming new international students, managing our volunteers and providing welcome support during this years’ International Welcome Programme. This will take place between Friday 9th and Saturday 17th September 2022.

Team Leaders would preferably have received the University’s Ambassador training or spent time as a Global Ambassador (although this isn’t essential) and must be friendly, outgoing, reliable, and enthusiastic and must be able to work well as part of a team. An ability to speak a language other than English would also be an advantage. Team Leaders would be expected to live in Halls of Residence for the entire week and attend a training day prior to the start of the week (most likely to be Friday 9th September 2022).

Duties to include:
  • Welcoming students to the University
  • Conducting Campus tours
  • Conducting tours of Pontypridd
  • Answering enquiries about the University and the local area
  • Attending evening social events
  • Assisting new students with filling in various forms
  • Managing volunteer rotas
  • Providing welcome support during the evenings and weekends where needed
Appropriate training will be provided
